Volunteers are an important part of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Although the Society is committed to its Catholic spiritual roots, we help all people without discrimination and welcome volunteers and members of all backgrounds.
Volunteer in Our Shops
Do you have a few hours every week between 9am and 4pm that you could volunteer your time?
Do you like working with others in a shop environment?
Would you like to develop transferable workplace skills?
Do you like to help people choose clothing items?
If you answered 'yes' to the above questions we would love to have you join our team of dedicated volunteers who make a difference within our communities, please click the button below.
Volunteer Your Office Skills
In addition to the valuable work of our paid office staff we can always make use of volunteers. We have ongoing need of assistance in activities such as fund raising, making grant applications, networking with support providers, maintaining a public profile.
If you have skills in these areas and would like to offer your help we would love to hear from you; please fill in the Form below and Submit.
What other Skills Might You Offer?
There is always plenty work to do, and we need volunteers to supplement the efforts of our paid staff.
What about helping to pick up donated goods such as whiteware, furniture and bedding? The truck and van team operates from our premises in Stanmore Road
What about sorting through donated goods delivered to the shops, preparing for sale - clothing and other items?
If you are interested in helping with this kind of work or other possible services please fill in the form below and Submit.
Would You Become a Member?
Our local Vincentian membership groups are called 'Conferences'.
Our members make home visits to connect with people from the local community and where necessary they provide food, clothing, furniture, support and mentoring for those in need. We are also in need of members who are comfortable using computers, treasurers and secretaries for our Conferences. There are a variety of different ways in which you can help.
Vincentians give freely of themselves to grow spiritually through service to others, giving neighbour-to-neighbour assistance to people in need.
New members are given formation/training and are mentored and supported by experienced members of the Conference. If you would like to connect with your Local Area Conference and find out how you can be involved or become a member please fill in the Form below and Submit.
We will put you in contact with your Local Area Conference representative. Please note this can take a few days to process.
There are thirteen local conferences spread throughout Christchurch as well as in Selwyn, Kaiapoi and Rangiora.
